## Certification and Test Evidence: What to Demand From a Case Supplier

Direct answer

Every certification claim on a case supplier's website should resolve to three things: a **certificate or report number**, the **issuing body**, and the **scope line** printed on the document. A logo without those three is marketing. The scope line matters most: a quality-management certificate covers only the activity named there — typically "production and sales of plastic tool cases" — so it says nothing about coatings, electronics or a different product family from the same group.

## §01The five documents to request, and what each proves

| Document | What it proves | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Quality management system certificate (ISO 9001) | That the named site's processes for the stated scope are audited by an accredited body | That any specific case model passed a performance test |
| Third-party test report (IP, drop, salt spray) | That one submitted sample met a named procedure under stated conditions | That series production is identical — reports usually state this limitation explicitly |
| Material compliance report (RoHS / REACH SVHC) | That the tested part and material meet a named directive limit | That the whole catalogue complies; reports are per model and per material |
| Social/ethical audit (SMETA, BSCI) | That a factory was audited against a labour and ethics scheme on a given date | Nothing about product performance |
| Patent grant certificate | That a specific design or utility model was registered to a named holder | That the product line is generally "patented" or superior |

## §02Our own verifiable evidence

We publish the same details we ask our suppliers for, so your compliance engineer can check them at source rather than take our word for it.

| Item | Reference | Issued by | Scope / content | Valid until |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quality management system | ISO 9001:2015 (GB/T 19001-2016), certificate **02424Q32280626R0S** | Shenzhen Universal Certification Centre Co., Ltd. (UCC), CNAS C024-M accredited, IAF MLA | Production and sales of plastic tool cases | 2027-03-26 (issued 2024-03-27; annual surveillance) |
| RoHS compliance verification | Report **NTS2512067R** (ref. NTS2512067), dated 2025-12-15 | NOWD Testing Services Co., Ltd. | Model WL6-3912 plastic protective case; RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU & 2015/863/EU, tested to the IEC 62321 series | Per report — single-sample evaluation |
| Registered designs and utility models | 16 granted patents (8 utility models, 8 designs) | China National Intellectual Property Administration | Latch, double-lock, one-piece double-open and shell structural designs; full numbered list on request | Per grant |

The quality-management certificate is held by the group's manufacturing entity; **KeXin New Materials (Guangdong) Co., Ltd.** is the sales and export entity. Both names appear on shipping documents, and third-party factory audits are welcome — book through [beeaa.com](https://www.beeaa.com).

## §03Claims we deliberately do not make

Useful as a counter-check on any supplier, including us:

- **No blanket IP rating.** Sealing is model-dependent. An IP67 or IP68 statement is only meaningful with the IEC 60529 conditions attached (duration, depth, whether the sample was new or aged).
- **No "military-grade" without a procedure.** MIL-STD-810 is a menu of methods, not a certificate. We name the method (for example Method 516 for mechanical shock) or we do not claim it.
- **No social-audit claim without the report.** We do not list SMETA or BSCI unless an audit report exists for the site in question.
- **No certificate numbers we cannot produce.** If a buyer asks for a document we do not hold, we say so.

## §04How to check a certificate in 60 seconds

1. Ask for a PDF, not a logo. Every legitimate certificate shows a number, a scope line, an issue date and an expiry date.
2. Check the issuing body is accredited — look for a national accreditation mark (CNAS, UKAS, DAkkS) and its registration number.
3. Verify the number on the issuer's public register or the national accreditation database (for Chinese management-system certificates, the CNCA public search at *cnca.gov.cn*).
4. Read the scope line and compare it with what you are buying.
5. For test reports, find the limitation sentence — most state that results apply only to the sample tested.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I verify a Chinese ISO 9001 certificate number?

Search the certificate number on the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the PRC public register (cnca.gov.cn), or on the issuing body's own site. Both should return the holder name, the scope line and the validity dates. If only the logo appears on a supplier's website and no number is offered, treat the claim as unverified.

### Does an ISO 9001 certificate mean the case is quality-tested?

No. ISO 9001 certifies that the audited site runs a documented quality management process for the activity named in the scope line. It is not a product test. Performance claims need their own test report naming the standard and procedure — for example IEC 60529 for ingress protection or MIL-STD-810 Method 516 for mechanical shock.

### Why does your RoHS report cover only one model?

Because that is how compliance testing works. The report covers the sample submitted — model WL6-3912 in that case — and the issuing lab states explicitly that a single-sample evaluation does not represent the whole production. Other models can be tested to your target market's requirements before series production.

### Can we audit the factory before placing an order?

Yes. Customer audits and third-party inspection agencies are both welcome. Bring the checklist you intend to sign off against — sealing, latch actuation, foam fit, marking quality — so the visit produces an agreement rather than impressions.
